Project Location: South Korea
Material: Silicon Dioxide / SiO₂
Application Fields: Electronic packaging, coating fillers, and fine chemical industry
1. Customer Requirements and Challenges
A well-known fine chemical supplier in South Korea required ultrafine grinding of its silicon dioxide products. Silica typically has high hardness (Mohs hardness around 7) and extremely strict purity requirements.
- Particle size target: Final product D90 ≤ 9.8 μm
- Capacity requirement: Stable throughput of 360 kg/h
- Key challenges: While ensuring high production capacity, equipment wear must be minimized, contamination from metallic impurities such as iron (Fe) must be avoided, and excellent powder flowability must be maintained.
2. Solution: Epic Powder MQW-35 Series Jet Mill for Silicon Dioxide Ultrafine Grinding

To meet the demands of high hardness materials and large capacity, the MQW-35 fluidized bed jet mill was selected.
System Advantages:
- High-efficiency grinding:
As a medium-to-large model in the MQW series, the MQW-35 features a larger grinding chamber and multi-nozzle configuration. The 360° convergence of supersonic airflows generates intense shear and impact forces. - Ceramic-lined interior:
To withstand the strong abrasiveness of silicon dioxide, all internal components in contact with material (classifier wheel, nozzles, and inlet/outlet pipelines) are lined with alumina ceramic or silicon carbide, ensuring near-zero metal contamination in the final product. - Precise classification:
The high-precision horizontal classifier wheel effectively blocks coarse particles, strictly controlling D90 below 9.8 μm and producing an extremely steep particle size distribution curve.
