Quartz Air Jet Mill Grinding and Classification Production Line for a Mexican Customer

Project Overview

  • Location: Mexico
  • Material: Quartz powder
  • Feed size: 200 mesh
  • Product size: D50 = 2.7 μm
  • Output capacity: 500 kg/h
  • Core equipment: Epic Powder MQW20 Jet Mill with Ceramic Classifier Wheel

The Mexican customer specializes in high-purity quartz powder for use in precision electronics, coatings, and functional fillers. The main challenge was to achieve ultrafine particle size control at D50 = 2.7 μm while maintaining high throughput and preventing metal contamination during production. Conventional mechanical mills could not meet these stringent purity and fineness requirements.

Quartz Air Jet Mill Grinding and Classification Production Line

Equipment Selection

The Epic Powder MQW20 air jet mill is designed for ultrafine grinding and classification of hard minerals like quartz, featuring a ceramic classification wheel to ensure purity. Its key advantages include:

  • High-Precision Grinding: Achieves D50=2.7μm with a narrow particle size distribution.
  • Stable Output: Optimized design supports a consistent 500kg/h production rate.
  • Contamination-Free: Ceramic classification wheel and wear-resistant components prevent metal contamination.
  • Energy Efficiency: Advanced airflow dynamics reduce energy consumption, enhancing cost-effectiveness.

The MQW20’s capabilities align perfectly with the client’s requirements for precision, purity, and productivity.

Production Process

  • Feed Preparation: 200-mesh quartz is screened to remove impurities and fed into the storage hopper.
  • Jet Mill Grinding: The quartz feed enters the MQW20 air jet mill, where high-speed air jets cause particle collisions, reducing the material to ultrafine sizes.
  • Classification: The ground particles pass through the ceramic classification wheel, where particles meeting D50=2.7μm are separated, and oversized particles are returned for further grinding.
  • Product Collection: Ultrafine quartz powder is collected via cyclone separators and a high-efficiency dust collector, ensuring a dust-free environment, and then packaged.
