Uzbekistan Quartz Ball Mill Classification Production Line

Project Background

A customer in Uzbekistan specializes in producing and supplying high-purity quartz powder for use in glass, electronics, foundry, and refractory industries. As market demand for finer and purer powders increased, the customer decided to establish a high-efficiency quartz ball mill classification production line to achieve stable micron-level powder processing.

Material Characteristics and Technical Challenges

Quartz (SiO₂) is a hard mineral with a Mohs hardness of 7, high abrasiveness, and strict purity requirements. During grinding, improper equipment selection may cause iron contamination, affecting whiteness and chemical purity. Therefore, the system needed to ensure wear resistance, precise classification, and contamination-free processing.

Equipment Configuration

After several technical discussions and pilot tests, the customer selected the EPIC Powder Ball Mill + Air Classifier System, which integrates continuous grinding and precision classification.

ParameterValue/Description
Input MaterialQuartz Powder (as raw material for secondary grinding)
Designed Output1 t/h
Product Particle Size (D50)7.56 μm
Product Particle Size (D97)3.26 μm
Particle Size DistributionNarrow distribution (small gap between D50 and D97, indicating high classification precision)
System ConfigurationCeramic-lined Ball Mill + Precision Turbine Classifier
Control SystemAutomated PLC control with real-time particle size monitoring

D50 represents the particle size at which 50%of the cumulative particle size distribution is attained, i.e., the mean particle size. D97 represents the particle size at which 97% of the cumulative particle size distribution is attained, indicating control over the largest particles in the product.

Performance Results

After commissioning, the production line operated stably and achieved excellent classification accuracy. The final product showed a narrow particle size distribution and consistent quality. The ceramic lining effectively prevented metallic contamination, improving both whiteness and purity. The customer reported low energy consumption, easy maintenance, and high yield, with overall performance exceeding expectations.
